Jun Sojung, School of Visual Arts, Exhibits at the National Museum of Modern and
Contemporary Arts’s “Artist of the Year 2023”
Professor
Jun Sojung of the School of Visual Art was selected to join the Artist of the
Year 2023. Organized and sponsored by the National Museum of Modern and
Contemporary Art Arts (MMCA) since 2012, the exhibition acknowledges the significant
artists in the country to further the possibilities and vision of contemporary
Korean fine art. This year, 4 sponsored artists are involved, and the event takes place from 20 October 2023 to 17 March 2024.
Prof.
Jun has been working on artworks that create non-linear time-space which invites
new perceptions of the present using various mediums such as video, sound, sculpture,
publication, and others. Jun also explores how the transition of the physical
boundaries pierces through the sensual experiences in daily life. The
exhibition will search for pre-modern and post-modern senses brought by experiences
related to speed and then look back on the contemporary social structures
ruptured by speed, such as capital, data, biotechnology, et al.
