The foundation of APB was first proposed in May 2006 at the 31st International Theatre School Conference in Manila, Philippines. The gathering of this year took place at the Shanghai Theatre Academy in China from 29 to 30 October. The 19 schools from 14 nations along with the general secretary of the International Theatre Institute of the UNESCO took part. After the election, Huang Changyong, President of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, was newly elected as the President of APB. For the new Vice Presidents of APB, Kim Mi-hee, the dean of the School of Drama at the K-Arts, Leon David Rubin, the dean of the Faculty of Performing Arts, Lasalle College of the Arts, and Poon Sze Wan, a professor of the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, took up their positions.
