Filmmaker Park Jong-won, School of Film, TV & Multimedia, Is Announced as a Jury of the 59th Grand Bell Awards


 

Professor and filmmaker Park Jong-won, School of Film, TV & Multimedia, became one of the 9 members of the jury for the final round at the prestigious Grand Bell Awards hosted by the Korea Motion Picture Promotion Association. Prof. Park, who served as the president of K-Arts, debuted with Guro Arirang (1989) and earned recognition with Our Twisted Hero (1992), adapted from Yi Munyol’s novel, which swept Best Film and Best Director in the Blue Dragon Awards, and Grand Prize, Best Film, and Best Director at the Baeksang Arts Awards. Then with The Eternal Empire (1995), he won Best Film and Best Director at the Grand Bell Awards, and Best Film by the Korea Motion Picture Promotion Association, hitherto accomplishing the triple crown of film director awards from 3 top film awards in the country.

 

 

In addition to Prof. Park Jong-won, the jury of the 59th Grand Bell Awards are film critic Chung Sung-il, novelist Kim Hong-sin, film producer Won Dong-yeon, professor Cho Hye-jeong (Chung-Ang University), filmmaker Kim Do-yeong, director Kim Sun-A of Women In Film Korea, professor Kang Kyeong-ho (Kyonggi University), vice president Seong Jun-hyeon of Korea Directors Association. They are going to select the best work and best director of the year.

 

 

The committee chief Kim Yong-ki stated, “The composition of jurors of the final round itself sets the milestone for the future of the Grand Bell Awards.” The 59th Grand Bell Awards draws the curtains on 15 November at the Gyeonggi Arts Center.
