K-Arts Hosts Community Engagement Programs with the Local Communities

K-Arts’ Visiting Cultural Event, “Nongak Concert: The Story of Young-in” Meets the Audience in Jinju

As a part of the Visiting Cultural Event project, the K-Arts organized and put up a performance, “Nongak Concert: The Story of Young-in” at the community art center in Jinju on 7 October. The Visiting Cultural Event is a cooperative project between K-Arts and the local communities that aims to deliver quality performances to the suburban residents who are deprived of chances to experience the cultural events.

The “Nongak Concert: The Story of Young-in” in Jinju is on the nongak – the community band music – from the 5 regions. In terms of style, it is a special concert comprised of only a limited number of performers. In contrast to a group dance involving many performers, the concert focuses on each individual performer’s delicate playing and energy through which rhythms and movements characterized by regions and instruments are delivered to the audience.

The event is free of charge. Mayor Cho Kyu-il of Jinju City commented, “While K-Arts is well known in arts and culture, I was glad to have the residents of Jinju enjoy the K-Arts’ excellent traditional music performances and other cultural content. On the event day, many citizens came to have a taste of traditional art and enjoyed its vibes.”
