Prof. Lee
Sngmoo, School of Film, TV &Multimedia, attended the “Humanities on the Library
Path” event. The occasion commemorated 70 years of the ROK-US alliance and
illuminated the value of the two countries’ partnership in the light of humanity.
Arranged by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea, the
event was co-hosted by the Korean Library Association, the Library of Congress,
and the Los Angeles Public Library, from 29 to 30 June.
At the event at
the LA Public Library, Prof. Lee Sngmoo gave a special lecture on “Meeting South
Korea and the United States through Metaverse,” discussing cultural exchange in
the upcoming metaverse era based on his experience of co-producing a Korean
American film. Lee Seung-moo, a filmmaker and screenwriter, debuted with a
feature film, Warrior’s Way (2010). For the first time from Korea, his team at the K-Arts produced
a metaverse performance content, Scarecrow VRC, which attained the 3 big
prizes in major film festivals, the Raindance Festival Spirit of Raindance
Award (UK), Columbia DSL Digital Dozen (US), and Sandbox Immersive Festival Technical
Innovation Award (China).
