The 21st Arts Sharing Academy Opens for Underserved Communities

From upcoming August, the K-Arts is planning to launch and run the 21st Traditional Arts Sharing Program that provides practical education in Korean traditional arts to the underprivileged groups in art and culture, those from multi-cultural families, and foreigners residing in Korea. Organized by the School of Korean Traditional Arts, the program takes place on Saturdays for 12 weeks on the Seokgwandong campus. All classes are free of charge.

The classes will offer practical art lectures on different genres of Korean traditional arts, which include musical instruments, singing, drama, dance, and integrated play education for preschool kids. Each class will be small and customized for individuals in all age groups ranging from age 6 to adults. Other than the regular classes, the class participants will have opportunities to stage their performances close to the end of the session.

Dean Lim June-hee of the School of Korean Traditional Arts explained, “K-Arts has been putting efforts in making social contributions in various means. This is one of them, and the School of Korean Traditional Arts has volunteered to deliver traditional art education experiences to people from diverse backgrounds in our society for the past 10 years since 2013. I wish the program participants from different generations and social backgrounds to realize the value of arts and culture as they learn the aesthetics of traditional arts and have fun together.”
