K-Arts and Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation Organize the 9th Gyechon Classic Festival
From 26 to 28 May at the Gyechon Village in Bangrim-myeon,
Pyeongchang, the K-Arts, the Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation, and Pyeongchang
County in Gangwon Province together present the 9th Gyechon Classic Festival.
It is a part of the Art Village Project that aims to spread the culture in
everyday life. In addition to the main performance, the event provides various
programs.
Gyechon is a small village located 700 meters above sea level.
The history of the festival started as the Gyechon Elementary School, at risk
of close-down due to decreasing numbers of students, overcame the crisis by invigorating
classical music education and orchestra activities. Since 2015, the K-Arts and
the Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation have provided various educational opportunities
to the entire students of the Gyechon Elementary School and villagers of
Gyechon through the Art Village Project to guide all members of society to
enjoy the value of arts and culture. Both institutions will continue to connect
the culture to people through sustaining social contributions to arts and
culture.
