Professor Lim Minouk, School of Visual Arts, Wins a Grant from the Obayashi Foundation Research Program

Professor Lim Minouk of the Department of Fine Arts, School of Visual Arts, was selected as a participant in the 4th research program fundraised by the Obayashi Foundation, Japan.

The Obayashi Foundation Research Program biannually selects capable artists who can present an innovative vision for exploring the cities and provide them with 70 thousand dollars of financial support for their research, exhibition, and publication. The program encourages an artist to look at the cities from completely different angles from the existing urban engineering and urban planning and suggest the vision of an ideal city in which an artist dreams of living.

As a part of this project, Professor Lim Minouk is working on “Vision of the City 2023.” Based on a broad understanding of the environment, economics, history, and arts, all of which as the components of the city, Lim sets a goal to support people to sustain a more abundant urban life.

“Vision of the City 2023” is confirmed to join Theater Commons, a significant multidisciplinary art festival in Japan. The performance will take place at the Sumida River, Tokyo, on February 2024.
