K-Arts Celebrates the 30th Anniversary with 600 Distinguished Guests

K-Arts Holds an Event, “Arts, Everything: Arise, And Fly,” Celebrating the 30th Anniversary

On 16 March, at the Seokgwan-dong campus, the event for celebrating the 30th anniversary of the K-Arts took place with great success in the presence of over 600 participants, including Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Park Bo-gyoon, former Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik, Congressperson Song Seongjun (People Power Party), former Vice Ministers of Sports and Tourism Kim Sunkyu and Oh Ji-cheol, former Presidents of K-Arts Lee Keon-yong and Park Jongwon, and other faculty members and students.

Through a welcome speech, President Kim Daejin of K-Arts addressed, “K-Arts has surely made a new history in arts for the past 30 years. Today, we are here to celebrate our accomplishments. At the same time, we are to seek the path of the next 30 years and thenceforth.” Hosted by musical actor Yang Joon-mo (School of Music, class of 2005), an awards ceremony for the people of merit and celebratory performances took place in a sequence.

The current students in tandem with alumni of the K-Arts prepared the celebratory performances on the theme of “Arise, and Fly.” They introduced the behind-the-scenes story of the foundation of K-Arts through a narrative speech and presented a piano orchestra for the 30 pianists with President Kim Daejin. They also delivered a special musical made up of students from 6 schools of K-Arts (School of Music, School of Drama, School of Film, TV & Multimedia, School of Visual Arts, and School of Korean Traditional Arts.)

President Kim Daejin emphasized “It’s a crucial time to carry out the integration of arts and to supplement the environment and educational system to develop and foster creative artists with original talents. That way, we will globally lead art education and strengthen the soft power of Korea through K-content in form of art and culture. From a school where its students don’t need to go abroad to study, we will now become a school where students from abroad come to study.” He added, “The K-Arts will strive to become an art school our society requires through pursuing solidarity and companionship with the social minorities and overcoming the alienation and discrimination.”
