New Students of Korea's Best Universities in Arts and Science Meet Together

K-ARTS X KAIST Freshman Video Camp Takes Place

Following the last year, the K-Arts X KAIST freshman video camp where the new students of Korea’s best arts and science universities experience the integration among different fields of study took place again this year. This time, particularly, some practical courses were live-streamed, accepting the opinion that the event should also be available to students who cannot attend on-site.

The K-Arts X KAIST freshman video camp was introduced on 6 January 22, based on the MOU concluded between the two universities to support each other in art-cultural and technological integration and cooperation. The first event ended with great success, receiving the best level of satisfaction, 100% recommended for the next newcomers. This year, 36 freshmen from both schools participated in the lectures on the creative production of games or videos. Then through team-based production workshops, the participants sought cooperation and enhanced understanding in creating the content integrating arts and cutting-edge technology.

Director Lee Seung-moo (School of Film, TV & Multimedia) of the K-Arts Art and Technology Lab, who organizes and administers the event, stated, “With the advancement of cutting-edge content such as metaverse or immersive realities, the need for integration between arts and science technology becomes more crucial than ever, whereas the creative exchange between the talents who are the human resources of such trend is meager. Through the teamwork of co-producing videos or games, we are to provide the sphere for voluntary creative exchange for the talents in arts and science.”
