I am a foreigner who would like to enter Korea National University of Arts. How can I get information regarding application and admission?
Foreigners and Koreans residing in a foreign country can apply for special admission. Please refer to the application guidelines for qualifications and details. You can also check the number of students, application deadlines, and instructions on how to take examinations for each school on the International Admission section of the school's English website. Please check out the relevant year’s application guidelines. Is there a scholarship system for foreign students?
The school runs AMA + scholarship and other scholarship projects for talented students in Asia and Africa. If you would like to know details about applicable countries and scholarships, please refer to Study at K-arts > International program > AMA + Scholarship.
Are there classes in English at Korea National University of Arts?
Most classes are in Korean, however there are a few classes available in English.
Should I speak Korean if I would like become an exchange student at Korea National University of Arts?
Speaking Korean is not a requisite, but as most classes are taught in Korean it offers and advantage to students who can. Please be aware that several departments (several theory departments and departments with an emphasis on language) do not select exchange students who can't speak Korean.
I would like to study at Korea National University of Arts as an exchange student. What procedure should I follow?
You can only study here if you are a student at a university where Korea National University of Arts has executed a cultural exchange agreement. Please speak to the staff in charge of exchange programs at your school and contact the staff at Korea National University of Arts.
My school is not a sister school of Korea National University of Arts. Can I study there as a visiting student?
Korea National University of Arts only selects exchange students from sister schools. There is no system for visiting students currently in place.
Is it possible to transfer from my current university to Korea National University of Arts?
There is no transfer system currently available at Korea National University of Arts. You must follow the official admission procedure if you would like to study at Korea National University of Arts.
When is the beginning of the semester?
There are two semesters per year. Every year, the first semester begins in the first week of March, and the second semester starts in the last week of August. Each semester has 15 weeks.
Is there a Summer school system?
Korea National University of Arts does not run a summer school for foreigners who are not official exchange students.
If I am selected as an exchange student or AMA scholarship student, can I enter the dormitory?
If you are selected as an exchange student and would like to enter the dormitory, the school can help you if the dormitory has vacancies. The dormitory accepts students by order of arrival. If you are selected as an AMA scholarship student, you will be given the opportunity to enter the dormitory preferentially. However, you should pay the boarding expenses(on average 120~200 thousand won per month) from your living costs supported by the scholarship. I would like to visit Korea National University of Arts. What steps should I take?
Please download the Visit Request Form from the English website, About K-Arts > Introduction > Visitor's Info. Fill out the form and send it to the staff via email to apply for the visit. After confirming the purpose of the visit, and the person you would like to interview is available, we will contact you.
If I apply for a graduate course, should my major be the same subject that I'm applying for?
Please download the Admission Guidelines from the English website, International Admissions. Refer to these quidelines for any questions regarding admissions.
How much are tuition and boarding expenses?
The tuition for undergraduate courses and graduate courses is approximately three million won. However, it can differ by about 100~200 thousand won according to individual departments. The boarding expenses are 480 thousand won per semester, but during the vacation it is 400 thousand won.
