Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival
The two feature films funded by the School of Film, TV
& Multimedia won at the 25th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival
(BIFAN) along with three other films produced by K-Arts alumni.
In the Korean Fantastic: Features competition at the 25th
BIFAN taken place from July 8th to July 18th, director Lee Jinho’s <Actionhero (2021)>
garnered four awards: Korean Fantastic Film Award, Watcha New Talent Award, CGV
Distribution Award, and Fantastic Actor Award (Actor Lee Seokhyeong). In the
same section, director Cho Kyungho’s <Good Deal (2021)>
also took the Korean Fantastic Best Director Award, Korean Fantastic Audience
Award, and Watcha New Talent Award. In the meantime, Choi Woogene, a junior in
the Department of Filmmaking, received the Watcha New Talent Awards with <Why
Is It So Warm on Christmas? (2021)> in the Korean Fantastic: Short.
Na Hong-jin, who produced <The Medium (2021)> lately and
had won the Best of Bucheon in Bucheon Choice: Features, and Lee Junsup, a
producer of <Pitch Black (2021),> who had graduated in
2018, are also our alumni who studied in the School of Film, TV &
Multimedia.
The funding project by the School of Film, TV &
Multimedia (Head Professors Lee Seung-moo and Choi Yong-bae) is a part of our
curriculum in the graduate program started in 2016. It has funded our graduate
students for producing feature films, which panned out to be accomplishments
worthy of notice in the related field, including the recent win in the Cannes
Film Festival.
