Nine
Dancers from K-Arts (Traditional Dance, Ballet, Contemporary Dance) Win in Dong-A
Dance Competition
Nine of current and
graduate students of the School of Dance and the School of Korean Traditional
Dance won awards at the 50th Dong-A Dance Competition held in Sejong Center for
the Performing Arts on May 28th. Kim Hyeon-gyeol (School of Korean Traditional
Arts) and Jeong Sang-hwa (School of Dance) each won the golden prizes in Korean
traditional dance for the female and the male. Kim Eun-yi and Kim Ha-rim
(School of Dance) individually took the golden prizes in creative Korean
traditional dance for female and man categories.
Moreover, Lee Byeong-chan
(School of Dance) gained the golden prize in contemporary dance for the male,
and Kim Si-jin earned the golden prize in ballet for the male. Lee Ae-rim and
Lim Yun-Su (School of Korean Traditional Arts) received the silver prize for
the female and the bronze prize for the male, and Kim Dong-Hyeon (School of
Korean Traditional Arts) won the silver prize for the male in creative
contemporary Korean dance.
Jeong Sang-Hwa, who
performed Yi Mae-bang’s Salpuri in this competition, said, “Salpuri dancing is
an art that comes to completion only through life-long efforts. I will always
keep this in mind and try to be a dedicated Salpuri dancer.”
